NEW FOR THE SUMMER SEASON!

PERFORMANCE TOP

When I was first introduced to the Sharkskin product some eight months ago it caught my immediate attention. Over winter I had the pleasure of trailing the Climate Control Top and Paddle Pants which kept me nice and warm throughout the entire season. The one thing that really appealed to me was the nature of the product and its non restrictive qualities especially when paddling and fishing from a kayak. Un-like other clothing designed for the kayak market Sharkskin offers a superior level of warmth as well as keeping me dry when it rained and protection from the wind chilling my body. The products effectiveness enabled me to wear the top on its own in all conditions and this was a real bonus as I under took many jigging sessions from the kayak which the top proved excellent for . It in no way restricted my movements when mechanical jigging and the lining took away any moisture from sweating. As cooler winter temperatures started to diminish I thought my Sharkskin days where few and far between as our summer heat would prevent me from continuing to wear the top. It was about this time that Tim from Aquanaut NZ introduced me to the latest innovation to come from Sharkskin the Performance Top. Again this new innovation caught my immediate attention and here we have something to take this product a step further. You see the top uses compression technology in the arms and shoulders which is great for muscle recovery. The material is lightweight and also offers UV protection with SPF30+. Even better it breaths meaning it is perfect for summer conditions. The lower back and stomach/chest area is made from the original sharkskin material that has three layers offering superior protection. This consists of an outer layer made from a durable UV resistant Lycra nylon blend and a middle layer that is both wind and waterproof. The inner layer is thermal offering non chaffing qualities that provide warmth and comfort to the skin. This is fantastic because it offers the user protection from the elements across the lower back and kidney area keeping you warm and toasty. The front has a zip at the neck base to allow for further ventilation if required and will help you keep cooler on those days when the sun is really scorching hot. Sharkskin is all about staying warm and avoiding wind chill on and around the water. The new performance top allows for this without the chance of overheating and keeping you safe from the sun at the same time. Tests so far have proven its worth in our ever changing conditions and as we all know our weather can often expose us to four seasons in one day which the performance top deals with like no other product out there can. The compression material is extremely nice when you are paddling and makes your muscles feel great with firm unhindered support. Better still the material is great to fish with and is perfect for activities like softbaiting which usually involves plenty of casting and working of the bait. Jigging is one of the most strenuous activities and the compression material used is just superb for the activity. The other thing I like about this product is you can put it in the washing machine when you’re finished using it that just isn’t possible with other types of dry gear as you will remove the waterproof coating they use to keep you dry.  

This new Sharkskin Performance Top is not only ideal for kayaking and kayak fishing but will also suit anyone else who is into most other water sport activities including other outdoor adventure activities. If you are serious about your chosen outdoor activity I suggest you take a closer look at what is now considered to be my number one choice of apparel when kayak fishing.

On the developement side the RFX Running Anchor Rig has had further improvement recently with the addition of a swivel clip to attach the choice of anchor. This prevents twisting and is ideal for drift chute use which most kayak anglers prefer these days.

 RASDEX KAYAK CLOTHING

I have been testing the Rasdex Adventure pants since January 2010 and have found them an excellent addition to my kayak clothing kit. The pants are tough enough to handle fishing and keep you dry. The pants have fully sealed ankle and waist band which keeps any water out. I walk into the water up to my knees when putting clients in the kayak for fishing trips and have no water entering the ankles of the pants what so ever.

They are ideal when not only kayak fishing but also for use on the boat, jetski , shore etc.
