M. V. Taiho (‘Heart of the Tree’)

Is a classic 40’ carvel-planked launch, built in 1957 from one-inch kauri plank by Swanson’s boatyard in Picton. The Taiho is suitable for sleeping five persons on any overnight excursions with larger goups possible onone day trips.

Taiho is powered by a 115 h.p. Ford diesel motor and weighs 15 tones. Taiho is fully equipped with all the required safety equipment and holds an up to date survey certificate to carry nine passengers on day trips and five passengers overnight. There are internal and external showers, a flush toilet and a well-equipped galley.

Also on-board is an ice box which is ideal for making a salt ice slurry used for chilling down the catch during your time out on the water. This will keep your fish in prime condition until you are ready for the return  journey home and bringing a chilli bin is also adviced.
