Club Get Together – Papa Aroha 11th, 12th& 13th November 2011
The event has now been locked into this time of year annually and can only get better again this year with many members already committing to attend soon after last year. The event is shaping up to be a good and many who couldn’t make it last year were disappointed for good reason. With the event now held during daylight savings the start of summer is in full swing and fish are flooding into the area meaning we should see some good catches. Last year fishing out off the front of the campground proved to be the place to go with the biggest fish and snapper of the competition caught here by member Robert Hitchcock.
Format and Itinery for the event
Friday starts with a late afternoon (3.30pm) onwards arrive and those who want a fish can head out (lots who did caught good fish last year) and after the fishing meet/greet others who have arrived later. Registration and a safety briefing is also to be held at 7pm so everyone attending and fishing the competition the next day must be present for this. As part of the competition you will also need to buddy up with someone else so if you don’t have one for the event then we can help sort this out. Everyone who is in the kayak fishing competition will need to fill out a registration form and also give intentions of trip details etc for the following day. The competition on Saturday 12th starts at first light and will run until late afternoon with weigh in time from 5 to 6pm. Saturday night dinner BBQ starts at 6.30pm followed by prize giving. Coromandel Kayak Adventures to supply sausages, seafood and salads and a plate by club members is also much appreciated. Sunday the 13th is casual fishing in the morning prior to departure later in the day for anyone wanting to participate.

This year we have the same amount of categories with some major prizes up for grabs. Don’t forget the chance to get your name on the biggest fish of the competition trophy. Any fishing method accepted as long as it is caught using a hook and line.
